Caldera and DPS Innovations
Wednesday, 19 September 2012 00:00

Several months have passed after Caldera and DPS Innovations reached the strategic partnership agreement. Supply of reliable and efficient combination of control electronics and RIP has been the core idea of the partnership, and by now the companies already launched several promising ink jet integration projects.

At the moment both teams are working "sleeves up" on a large industrial project in Europe which will keep them busy for years. Test installation of DPS electronics is performed at the moment on site of a large Chinese printer manufacturer, and in a couple weeks DPS technical crew will be dispatched for test installation in India. No need to say that new models of printers manufactured there will be complemented by the Caldera RIP. Several joint projects initiated by Caldera in the Americas and in Eurasia, and even in Russia where the number of printer manufacturers is next to nothing, are in the process of initial evaluation and coordination with the clients.

ApppExpo-2012 in Shanghai
Wednesday, 29 August 2012 00:00

The annual show in Shanghai is considered one of the most remarkable events in printing industry. Total number of exhibitors exceeded 550 in 6 halls allocated for inkjet printing equipment and materials producers. By the way, the number of halls and the area occupied by suppliers of engraving equipment, LEDs and digital signage was nearly twice as large. Domestic manufacturers constituted majority of exhibitors.

Promotion of any foreign products in China is obviously a hard task. Industrial inkjet printers are produced here at a very low cost and are abundant on the market. In most cases they use locally manufactured control electronics, too. Nonetheless, resulting from series of presentations and basic consultations we faced a strong interest of several Asian producers in DPS' latest development - PCI-express board providing the opportunity to develop extra-high capacity solutions for multi- and, in particular, for single-pass printing applications. A good part of industrial printers displayed at the show were equipped with Epson DX5 and DX7 print heads, and responding the trend we decided to start development of advanced print head control solution for these heads.

Regarding the UV LED ink curing units, quite a few Chinese and Taiwanese developments different in size, power and cooling method were displayed at the show. Despite our prices are relatively higher, extra-long life time of our product (practically around 100k hours) made us able to market our UV LED units during the show, and we collected several good leads.

DPS Innovations and Caldera took part in Drupa-2012

Drupa-2012 proved to be a good start for the newly announced alliance of industrial inkjet printer control electronics producer DPS and RIP developer Caldera.

"We were proud to see our control system working in various printing applications displayed at the show." – reports DPS management. - "Drupa was an excellent opportunity to observe the trends and achievements in the entire industry, to communicate face-to-face with distant customers, and, of course, to collect new leads. Many manufacturers and integrators look for a flexible control solution supported by a proven RIP, and the portfolio of DPS considerably augmented. We also had fruitful discussions with our suppliers of print heads, and we plan to provide even wider choice to our partners in the near future."

The results of the show are really inspiring – DPS and Caldera already got down to implementation of new development projects with customers working in the fields of security printing, textiles, ceramics.
